#1 Bad Hair Day Dahlia Tuber

$16.00

I call this original #1 dahlia grown from seed in 2022 because it was and remains one of the first dahlias to bloom in my garden, and certainly the first to catch not only my eye but the bees as well! Tubers are prolific and the stem is thin with a strong head. The bloom is about 5-6″ across and grows about 5′ tall. It is a Fuschia color rimmed with lavender and an eye-catching psychedelic hue along the petals from the faintly yellow center.

Description

Bad Hair Day was grown from seed and produces a short 2′ high plant is best alone or along low borders or in pots. It tends to get dwarfed in the garden among larger varieties but is a strong grower and produces a multi petaled hybrid between decorative and ruffled star shape. It is a pretty deep purple with undertones of fuchsia on a dark stem. When I named it, obviously I was crawling under dahlia plants which made my hair into a bit of a mess, which caused some hilarity when I emerged with my hair in all directions, sort of like the petals on this flower!
